West Brom frontrunners for England international

Andros Townsend has told Tottenham he wants to leave the club on loan to revive his chances of making Roy Hodgson’s England squad for the Euro’s this summer, according to the Daily Telegraph.

The England international has dropped completely out of favour under Mauricio Pochettino and was involved in an altercation with Spurs physio earlier in the season that hampered his chances of game time even more.

Townsend, 24, featured regularly in England squads over the last 18 months but was excluded from Hodgson’s most recent selection for friendlies against Spain and France.

Spurs are reportedly demanding a staggering £14m for Townsend signature and are reluctant to letting the winger go out on a temporary deal, which has deterred suitors up to now.

Townsend has only featured in 64 minutes of Premier League action this season, which has been spread across three substitute appearances. The last of those, however, came midway through October.
