Northern Ireland international Kyle Lafferty has conceded he may have to quit Norwich for first-team football elsewhere with one eye on the European Championships next summer.
Lafferty, 28, played an instrumental part in Northern Ireland qualification campaign as they surprisingly topped their group to book their place in France for the tournament next summer.
The former Rangers striker netted seven times for Northern Ireland as they sealed their place at a major tournament for the first time since 1986 and Lafferty concedes he may have to leave Norwich in order to secure his place on the plane to France.
“I took an option to go out on loan in the second half of last season and maybe it’s backfired. It put me out of the picture for a while,” Lafferty told the Sunday Mirror.
“The only thing I can do is keep scoring goals for my country and make an impact for Norwich. If it is time to leave I’ll take the opportunity.
“There’s no point in me sitting in the stands or playing for 15 minutes when there’s a massive tournament coming.”
Lafferty’s form for club has come nowhere near his extraordinary form for country this season. In fact, the forward has only been given 13 minutes playing time this season.
