Southampton chase Arsenal forward

Southampton are interested in re-signing Arsenal forward Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to The Daily Mirror.

Oxlade-Chamberlain, 22, swapped Southampton for Arsenal five years ago but has struggled to fulfil the promise the accompanied the move.

The England international is currently sidelined with a knee injury and has struggled for form and fitness this season, which has led to suggestions Arsenal are keen to cash in on the youngster this summer.

He has already ruled out a move to any of Arsenal’s London rivals, which has put the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City in the driving seat for the versatile forward, who has two years left to run on his current deal at the Emirates.

However, Southampton are now reportedly keen in bringing Oxlade-Chamberlain back to the south coast, although it is unsure whether he would consider that a step back in his career.

Of players to have made at least 20 appearances in the Premier League since the start of last season, no player has required fewer minutes per successful dribble than Oxlade-Chamberlain (20.3 mins).
