Huddersfield have failed with an opening £7.2m bid for Derby forward Tom Ince but are expected to return with an improved offer, reports Sky Sports.
The Terriers are looking to bolster their squad after securing promotion to the Premier League for the first time in the club’s history and are already on the verge of shattering their club-transfer record for Manchester City midfielder Aaron Mooy.
However, David Wagner’s side are not looking to stop there and are now aiming to add more firepower up front with the signing of Ince, who has been regularly linked with a move to the Premier League in recent years.
The 25-year-old has spent the last two years of his career with Derby after losing his way somewhat following early promise to his career when he was at Blackpool from 2011 to 2014.
However, Ince finished last season as the Rams’ top goalscorer (14) and highest rated player (7.18).
