Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil insists he is still happy at the club despite the fact contract talks have been shelved until the end of the season.
The Germany international will only have 12 months to run on his existing deal in the summer and a summer exit liked like the most likely scenario given Arsenal’s refusal to match Ozil’s wage demands.
However, Ozil has previously maintained a decision on a new contract would only be made after Arsene Wenger has made his own future clear.
The Arsenal manager’s current deal is due to expire at the end of the season but the Frenchman is poised to announce his decision to stay on at the club, while Ozil insists he is still happy in London amid doubts over his own future.
“The fact is I’ve still got a contract in London,” The Daily Mirror quote Ozil as saying. “To speculate now would be wrong. At the end of the season we will see, there will be talks. I’m very happy at Arsenal and in London.”
Since the start of last season no player has registered more assists in the Premier League than Ozil (23).
