Valencia target City outcast

Valencia have identified Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala as their top transfer target should they fail to keep hold of Shkodran Mustafi, according to Standard Sport.

Arsenal are currently in talks with the Spanish outfit to sign Mustafi but Valencia are digging their heels in over the £30m price tag, but they are already starting to plan for life without the Germany international.

Mangala, 25, joined City in a staggering £32m deal from Porto in 2014 but the France international has not lived up to the price tag and does not feature in Pep Guardiola’s plans for the coming season.

Valencia will expect competition from AC Milan and Porto for the central defender but his alliance with Jorge Mendes could swing the deal in Los Che’s favour.

Since joining City Mangala has committed at least two more errors that have led to a shot at goal than any other outfielder in the Premier League (5).
