Shock Tottenham defender on Barcelona's radar

Barcelona are weighing up a shock move to sign Tottenham defender Juan Foyth, claims Mundo Deportivo.

Foyth was billed as one of Argentina's most promising young defenders after joining Tottenham in 2017 under Mauricio Pochettino's request.

However, the 22-year-old has struggled to get going at Tottenham and now has no future at the club under Jose Mourinho.

The Tottenham head coach is after a different type of central defender this summer and has made it clear the Argentina international can leave.

Barcelona have already been heavily linked with a summer move for Tottenham club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele but it has now emerged they are also considering Foyth.

Wholesale changes are expected at Camp Nou this summer with nearly half the squad up for sale.

Barcelona expect to cash in on Samuel Umtiti and Jean-Clair Todibo at the end of the season and will have room for a new centre-back, with Foyth on their radar.

Foyth, who is also wanted by River Plate and Boca Juniors back in Argentina, has only started 11 Premier League matches since joining Tottenham three years ago.

The youngster's most notable contribution to Tottenham in that time was his sending off just two minutes after coming on as a substitute against Bournemouth 12 months ago.
