Manchester United veteran pens new deal

Manchester United have announced Ashley Young has signed a new 12-month contract extension keeping him at the club in the end of next season.

Young’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of the current campaign and the former England international was a summer transfer target for Serie A giants Inter.

The 33-year-old is one of several high profile United players expected to pen new deals before the end of the season and illustrating his worth once again this term.

Young has now usurped captain Antonio Valencia as United’s first choice right-back and is a mainstay in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.

The veteran defender was hoping to secure a longer-contract but United have compromised with an improved 12-month extension offer.

Young has started 45 of a possible 62 league matches for United since the beginning of last season.
