City star not going to renew his deal

Sergio Aguero has confirmed he will not renew his deal with Manchester City and will return to Argentina when his contract expires in 2019, he told Independient en la Uno, via Manchester Evening News.

The 27-year-old still has three years remaining on his current deal and there had been suggestions City were on the verge of getting the Argentina international to commit the rest of his future to the club.

However, Aguero has refuted those suggestions and insists he will return to his boyhood club Independiente when his contract expires a year after the 2018 World Cup.

“In the last few months a lot of things have been said about a new contract, but I didn’t pay any attention.

“It’s clear to me that when my contract ends, after the World Cup, I’m going to Independiente.”

“Here at the club they are great with me, they always told me that they were open if the chance of a transfer arises. But where I am going to go in Europe?

“No, when I go, when my contract ends, I’m going to Argentina to play for El Rojo. From Manchester, straight to Avellaneda.”

Since joining City from Atletico Madrid in 2011, Aguero has scored at least 16 more goals than any other player in the Premier League, with his brace against Aston Villa at the weekend taking him to within six of reaching 100 Premier League goals (94).
