Bayern Munich have made a major breakthrough in talks with Aaron Ramsey and believe they will sign the Arsenal midfielder on a free transfer next summer, claims The Independent.
Ramsey has entered the final year of his current Arsenal deal and the Gunners have told the Welshman they will not offer him a new contract.
The 27-year-old has already been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United and Chelsea but it has now emerged that Bayern have all but won the race for his long-term future.
Ramsey is expected to sign a four-year deal with Bayern that will start in the summer, delivering a major blow to the likes of United.
Jose Mourinho reportedly wanted United to wrap up a cut-price deal for Ramsey in January but now it looks like the Portuguese will have to assess other targets.
Bayern are already well-stocked in central midfield and Ramsey will have to compete for a starting berth against the likes of Renato Sanches, James Rodriguez, Thiago, Javi Martinez, Corentin Tolisso and Leon Goretzka.
Since the start of last season, only Alexandre Lacazette (25) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (22) have scored or assisted more Premier League goals for Arsenal than Ramsey (20).
