Arsenal told to pay £60m for top transfer target

Lyon have told Arsenal they will need to pay in excess of £60m to sign Alexandre Lacazette this summer, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Arsenal have rekindled their interest in Lacazette this summer as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his offensive options to make the Gunners genuine title contenders next season.

Lacazette announced his intention to leave Lyon earlier in the summer and the France international was expected to join Atletico Madrid before the Court of Arbitration for Sport [CAS] upheld their FIFA-imposed transfer ban.

The 26-year-old has since revealed he could still stay at his boyhood club for another season but Arsenal are keen on signing the striker as a deal for his international teammate, Kylian Mbappe, appears unlikely at this stage.

However, Lyon have told the Gunners that will they need to cough up an initial £48.7m plus £10.6m in add-ons to prize their star man away this summer.

Lacazette has just enjoyed his best ever season in front of goal after scoring 28 goals in 30 league appearances. In fact, only Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani (35) scored more goals in Ligue 1 last season.
