Watford line up Mazzarri replacement

Watford are looking to Claudio Ranieri as a potential replacement for Walter Mazzarri, according to the Sunday Express.

Ranieri has been out of work since his sacking as Leicester City manager in February and is supposedly keen to get back into management in the Premier League.

He could return to the game as Mazzarri’s replacement at Vicarage Road with the club’s owner, Gino Pozzo, feeling the Italian has endured a disappointing season.

Watford are currently 10th in England’s top tier having secured a 1-0 win over Swansea on Saturday, but with the level of investment, the club’s hierarchy are demanding a greater return.

Pozzo, whose father is a family friend of Ranieri, now sees the 65-year-old as the manager to take the Hornets to the next level with his fine work with the Foxes an indication as to how far the former Inter manager can take them.

Ranieri, though, is reluctant to take about the potentially vacant hotseat while Mazzarri is still in charge at Vicarage Road.
