Axel Tuanzebe will be rewarded with a new Manchester United deal and the chance to stake a claim for the first-team next season, claims The Sun.
Tuanzebe spent last season on loan at Aston Villa and played an integral part in their promotion from the Championship.
Villa were hoping to retain Tuanzebe’s services for their first campaign back in the Premier League but his impressive displays have played his way into Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s plans.
Tuanzebe’s current deal is due to expire at the end of next season, though United have an option to extend his stay by a further 12 months.
Nevertheless, United want to secure Tuanzebe’s long-term future and will give the 21-year-old the chance to impress in pre-season.
United want to sign a new world-class centre-back this summer but are expected to sell at least one of Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly.
Tuanzebe made 28 league appearances for Villa last season and his return from injury helped Dean Smith’s side over the line in the Championship play-off final.
