Tottenham step up interest in Everton star

Tottenham are readying another push to sign Everton star Ross Barkley, reports the Independent.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for the England international in recent months, though it was thought a deal was dead in the water as Everton were demanding £50m for Barkley.

However, the north London side are reading another offer for the 23-year-old, with the Toffees keen to make money off Barkley rather than lose him on a free next summer.

Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino is a long term admirer of the young attacker and the Argentine feels he can bring out the next in the player.

While Spurs feel Everton’s £50m valuation is unrealistic, there is a willingness to get the deal done before the close of the transfer window.

Everton have secured the services of Davy Klaassen already this summer, while the Merseyside outfit remain keen on Gylfi Sigurdsson in order to improve their creative options, which in turn threatens to limit Barkley's playing time.

Spurs are also in the market for a new right-back following Kyle Walker’s move to Manchester City, while the club have been linked with a move for Juan Foyth of Estudiantes.
