West Ham eye shock move for Chelsea midfielder

West Ham are hopeful of completing a sensational swoop for Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to The Daily Mirror.

Fabregas, 28, made his first league start of the season in Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Arsenal on Saturday but was subbed off before the hour mark.

The Spain international was heavily linked with a move away from Chelsea during the summer after dropping down the pecking order under Antonio Conte.

AC Milan are among the clubs expected to fight for his signature in January but they could face competition from West Ham, who are keen to offer the midfielder an escape route.

In the last three Premier League campaigns Fabregas has registered more assists than any other player (26).
