Newcastle set to re-sign Arsenal starlet Willock

Newcastle United are in advanced talks to bring Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock back to St. James' Park, claims The Daily Telegraph.

Willock spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle and was a revelation for Steve Bruce' side.

The 21-year-old finished his spell with eight goals in 14 league appearences for the Magpies to help Bruce's side avoid relegation.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta only last week insisted Willlock would remain part of his first-team plans for next season.

However, it has now emeged Newcastle are close to bringing Willock back to the north east on a season-long loan deal.

Willock remarkably finished last season by scoring in seven straight Premier League games, becoming the first Newcastle player to manage the feat since Alan Shearer.

A return of eight league goals in 2021 was more than the likes of Raheem Sterling, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Edinson Cavani, Patrick Bamford, Danny Ings, Sadio Mane and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
