Inter interested in Sassuolo defender

Inter are pondering a January move for Sassuolo ace Francesco Acerbi, according to Calciomercato, via Football Italia.

Acerbi, 28, has been one of Serie A’s most consistent performers in the last two seasons and has now caught the eye of Frank de Boer’s side, who are reportedly looking to make an all-Italian defence.

Inter have already been linked with a move for Manchester United full-back Matteo Darmian in January and are expected to step up their interest in the Italy international when the transfer windows re-opens.

De Boer is currently under heavy pressure having failed to keep up with the likes of Juventus and Roma after another summer of heavy investment. A 2-1 win over Torino in midweek ensured Inter avoided four straight defeats in the league for the first time since 2004.

In the last three Serie A campaigns Acerbi has won possession in the defensive third more times than any other player (364).
