West Brom name price for Manchester City target

West Brom have told Manchester City they will need to fork out £35m to sign Jonny Evans, claims The Sun.

Pep Guardiola has earmarked Evans as a top target in the remaining weeks of the transfer window and has already had an £18m bid knocked back for the former Manchester United defender.

The City head coach has turned to the experienced 29-year-old as he seeks a fourth centre back option after failed bids to sign Virgil van Dijk and Leonardo Bonucci.

Guardiola was hopeful of securing a cheaper deal for Evans, which would have freed up remaining funds for a big move to Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez, but the Baggies have made it clear only a huge offer will turn their hand.

Tony Pulis has confirmed that West Brom cannot afford to turn down a mammoth offer for Evans and they have reportedly slapped a £35m price tag on his head, having only paid United £4m to sign him in August 2015.

Only two players have won possession in the defensive third more times than Evans (267) in the last three Premier League seasons.
