Arsenal’s interest in Alexandre Lacazette could be about to end after Lyon’s president hinted at a new deal for the striker.
Arsene Wenger has confirmed he is on the market for a new forward this summer and has already had a £29.4m bid for Lacazette turned down.
The France international has been heavily linked with a move away from Lyon this summer but the Ligue 1 outfit have no intention of selling and president Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed they will look to offer him a new deal ahead of the upcoming season.
Asked by L’Equipe – via London Evening Standard - whether Lacazette would be offered a new deal, Aulas replied: “We’ll try to find a solution to make him feel good and make sure he appreciates the relationship between us.
“I want to show [Lacazette] that he’s one of our best players, if not the most important, and we know how [to do that].
“Anyway, for me the subject is closed – there are no other proposals and there won’t be.”
Since August 2013 only Zlatan Ibrahimovic (115) has played a direct hand in more goals in Ligue 1 than Lacazette (75).
