Grealish fears being priced out of Manchester United move

Aston Villa's owner will not let Jack Grealish leave the club unless they receive a bid in the region of £80m, claims The Daily Mirror.

Grealish has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United since the turn of the year after enjoying a superb individual campaign.

The 24-year-old scored in Villa's 1-1 draw with West Ham on the final day of the season to keep his boyhood club in the Premier League.

However, in doing so, while obviously Grealish's priority, it leaves Villa in a position of strength over his price tag and he now fears being priced out of a high profile move away.

With United expected to spend at least £80m to sign Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are unlikely to outlay a similar fee for Grealish.

The Red Devils are looking to cap transfer fees at £50m where possible but Villa's owner, Nassef Sawiris, is adamant over Grealish's valuation.

With transfer valuations set to tumble as a result of the Coronavirus pandemic, the chances of a potential suitor paying £80m for Grealish is even more unlikely.

It leaves Grealish facing the very real prospect of being denied the chance to take the next step in his career after playing an integral part in keeping Villa in the Premier League.

Villa, however, are set to investigate what went wrong this season after spending £140m on new transfers over the course of the season only to avoid the drop by a point.

Jesus Garcia Pitarch has already been let go from his role as Villa's sporting director after leading the club's recruitment over the last 12 months.

Villa will see the sale of Grealish as a quick way to recoup most of that outlay back and are determined to get as much money as possible for the midfielder.

Grealish finished the campaign with eight goals and six assists in 36 league appearances and was fouled at least 47 more times than any other player in the division (147).
