Arsenal plot shock move for Chelsea midfielder

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho has emerged as a shock transfer target for Arsenal before the window closes, claims Sky Sports.

Jorginho has spent the last two years at Chelsea after the Blues hi-jacked Manchester City's move for the then-Napoli midfielder.

The Italy international has endured a tough time at Chelsea and was heavily linked with a move to Juventus to reunite with Maurizio Sarri.

Juventus instead sacked Sarri at the end of last season and signed Arthur from Barcelona to kill their pursuti of Jorginho.

However, Jorginho's future at Chelsea is still unclear following the club's remarkable £250m summer spending spree.

With Chelsea also still optimistic of signing Declan Rice from West Ham this summer, Jorginho may have no choice but to leave before the window closes next month.

Arteta, who was Pep Guardiola's assistant at City during their interestin Jorginho, is desperate to sign at least one new midfielder.

With Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi both free to leave, Arsenal were hopeful of landing one of Thomas Partey or Houssem Aouar this summer.

However, both Atletico Madrid and Lyon, respectively, are holding out for large sums for each player and Jorginho may not only prove cheaper but easier to land.

Arsenal are the only side Jorginho has scored more than once against of all English teams in his career.
