Real Madrid are planning a blockbuster January swoop for Chelsea star Eden Hazard, claims The Sun.
The European champions wanted to sign Hazard in the summer but baulked at Chelsea’s £200m asking price.
Hazard is happy at Chelsea but revealed after Sunday’s 3-0 win away to Southampton that he still dreams of playing for Madrid.
Madrid have been encouraged by Hazard’s latest comments and will ramp up their interest when the transfer window reopens.
Hazard will only have 18 months left to run on his current Chelsea deal in January and does not want to renew with the club at the moment.
However, it remains to be seen whether Hazard would be willing to leave Chelsea midway through the season.
The 27-year-old has a huge affinity with the club and it was thought he would stay at Chelsea all season before deciding on his future next summer.
Nevertheless, Madrid are ready to go on the charm offensive and attempt to prise Hazard away from Stamford Bridge this season.
Madrid have made a poor start to the season and believe the arrival of Hazard will bolster their chances of a fourth straight Champions League trophy.
Hazard has arguably been the best player in the world since the 2018 World Cup and has made a great start to life under new Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.
He has scored or assisted in all but one of his eight league appearances this season, playing a direct hand in 10 goals in the process (seven goals, three assists).
Furthermore, Hazard has won the WhoScored Man of the Match award on five occasions in the league this term and is the highest WhoScored rated player in the Premier League (8.15).
