Simeone snubs Chelsea but would consider Manchester United

Diego Simeone would reject the chance to take over Chelsea, but would consider Manchester United as his next destination, reports the Times.

The Blues would likely have considered the Argentine as a potential successor for Antonio Conte at Stamford Bridge, with the Italian widely expected to depart the club at the end of the season.

Luis Enrique is the frontrunner to succeed Conte in west London, though Chelsea would looked to Simeone too.

However, Chelsea would have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Simeone, with the 47-year-old looking to see out the remaining two-and-a-half years of his current contract at Atletico Madrid.

Worse still is that Simeone would consider an approach from Manchester United after supposedly snubbing the Blues, though Jose Mourinho has recently signed a new contract at Old Trafford.

Conte recently reaffirmed his desire to see out the remaining 18 months of his current contract at Stamford Bridge, but speculation continues to hint that he’ll either walk away from the club or be relieved of his duties in the summer.
