Liverpool have confirmed that centre-back Joel Matip is out for the remainder of the season.
The Reds have endured rotten luck with their defenders this season, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez both currently sidelined.
And the defending Premier League champions have been dealt a further blow with the Cameroonian out for the rest of 2020/21.
"Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Joel Matip is set to miss the remainder of the 2020-21 season due to an ankle ligament injury," a statement read on the club's official website.
"The defender sustained the issue in a challenge to thwart Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min during the first half of Liverpool’s 3-1 win in London last Thursday.
"Further diagnosis of the problem has revealed Matip will be unable to play any further part in the Reds’ campaign."

On Matip's injury, Klopp said: "Unfortunately, we found out now after everybody looked at it that Joel will be out for the rest of the season.
"But he will be ready for the start of the next pre-season and finally everything will be sorted."
Fortunately for Liverpool fans, the club have today confirmed the signings of Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak to ease their defensive woes.
