Ligue 1 giants have expressed an interest in signing Manchester United outcast Memphis Depay, reports The Daily Mail.
Memphis, 23, has been given the greenlight to leave Old Trafford this month after failing to make any significant impression on Jose Mourinho this season but the controversial winger will only be allowed to leave if United’s demands are met.
Everton are interested in signing the Netherlands international this month but are yet to table a formal offer for the winger, while United are reportedly looking to recoup £15m from the £30m they spent to bring Memphis to the club from PSV Eindhoven in 2014.
Lyon have now entered the frame to bring the talented winger to Ligue 1 although it would mean shattering their wage structure if they are forced to match Memphis’ £100,000-a-week wages.
United are also not interested in letting Memphis leave the club on loan and will only entertain permanent offers, which has quelled interest so far.
Of players to have started at least 10 games in the last two Premier League seasons, only Kelechi Iheanacho (every 19.8 minutes) has been dispossessed more frequently than Memphis (every 21 minutes).
