Arsenal ready to cash in on Aubameyang

Arsenal accept they have to sell Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang this summer and are ready to listen to offers for their captain, claims The Daily Mail.

Aubameyang will only have 12 months left to run on his current £200,000-a-week contract this summer and the striker does not want to renew with the Gunners.

The 30-year-old was made Arsenal captain in November but wants to spend his best remaining years competing in the Champions League.

Aubameyang has already been linked with a move to Manchester United this summer and there are new reports suggesting Chelsea are monitoring his future at the Emirates.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was hopeful of convincing Aubameyang to pledge his long-term future to the club but accepts a losing battle.

The Gunners will now cash on Aubameyang rather than lose the former Borussia Dortmund striker for nothing next year and use the money raised to re-invest in the squad.

Arsenal do not expect to just field offers from their Premier League rivals, either, with Inter and Barcelona both keen on the Gabon international.

Barcelona may eventually view Aubameyang as a cheaper alternative to £97m-rated Lautaro Martinez, while Inter will be on the market for a new striker if Martinez moves to Camp Nou.

Aubameyang has been a tremendous goalscorer ever since swapping Dortmund for Arsenal in January 2018 for a then-club record £56m deal.

Since making his debut for the Gunners at the start of February 2018, only Mo Salah (51) has scored more Premier League goals than Aubameyang (49).
