Chelsea have approached Inter boss Roberto Mancini to become Jose Mourinho’s long-term successor, according to FCInterNews.it.
The reigning Premier League champions dispensed with Jose Mourinho last week and have already made Guus Hiddink interim manager until the end of the season.
However, Chelsea would appear already to have one eye on next season with the club now unlikely to make the top four after their disastrous start.
According to the report in Italy, Chelsea have approached Mancini with a two-year contract worth £6.3m per season.
The 51-year-old guided Manchester City to their first league title in 44 years during his four years at the club and is currently top of Serie A with Inter.
Since the start of season no team has kept more clean sheets than Inter across Europe’s top five leagues (11), which would help sort Chelsea’s current statistically calculated weaknesses which are mostly based around their inability to defend.
