N’Golo Kante has been rated ’50/50’ for Chelsea’s clash with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, reports The Independent.
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte was hopeful that Kante would recover from a hamstring injury in time to face Roma on Tuesday but the France international did not feel he was ready.
The defending Premier League champions were thumped 3-0 by Roma and now Conte will be desperate to have his star midfielder available for the reception of Jose Mourinho’s United.
However, despite the fact Kante returned to training prior to last weekend’s win over Bournemouth, the 26-year-old reportedly signalled through the mixed zone in Rome that he not yet fully fit.
Chelsea could be as many as 12 points adrift of league leaders Manchester City when they play United on Sunday and Kante’s absence would be a huge blow for the home side.
In the last two Premier League campaigns, only Idrissa Gueye (262) has completed more tackles and interceptions combined than Kante (252).
