Real Madrid join the race for Arsenal target

Real Madrid have joined the ever competitive race to sign RB Leipzig centre-back Dayot Upamecano, reports The Daily Mail.

The French youngster has a little over a year left to run on his current deal with the Bundesliga title contenders, who are prepared to sell the youngster this summer rather than lose him on a free in 2021.

And that is expected to trigger a mad transfer scramble for his signature, with Arsenal hopeful of securing his services.

However, they face stiff competition for Upamecano's signature, with Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all courting the 21-year-old.

The centre-back's release clause is currently a modest £55m, which undoubtedly appeals to Europe's elite sides.

Injuries have restricted Upamecano to just 35 league starts since the start of the 2018/19 campaign, but that hasn't put off any potential suitors.
