Manchester City are set to reward Fernandinho’s fine start to the season with a new contract, according to the Manchester Evening News.
Fernandinho, 30, still has more than 18 months to run on his current deal but the £30m signing has proven to be a integral part of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad and City are looking to reward his form with a bumper deal.
The Brazil international is the only City player to have featured in all 12 of their Premier League matches this season and boasts the third highest pass success rate of the 64 players to have started every match in England’s top-flight thus far (89.7%).
Added to that, the former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder has completed at least 20 more tackles than any other teammate (43).
