Everton confident of signing Besiktas striker

Everton are still confident they will get a deal over the line for Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun despite the fact the Turkish champions have increased their asking price, reports The Daily Mail.

The Toffees were close to sealing a £25m transfer for Tosun but Besiktas increased his valuation to £27m over the weekend.

Sam Allardyce hinted on Monday that the deal was close to collapsing following Besiktas’ stunt but all parties remain hopeful that an agreement will be found.

Everton are desperate to sign a striker after failing to sufficiently replace Romelu Lukaku over the summer and hope Tosun can be the man to fire in the goals.

Tosun flourished during the group stages of the Champions League and his departure would be a real blow for Besiktas in the knockout phase. In fact, the 26-year-old played a direct hand in six goals in as many matches in the group stage.

Meanwhile, in the Turkish Super Lig, only Vagner Love (11) has missed more clear-cut goalscoring opportunities (Tosun - 8).
