Crystal Palace identify Zaha replacement

Crystal Palace have been told they must pay £25m to sign Nice star Allan Saint-Maximin, claims The Daily Mail.

The Eagles are under pressure to sell Wilfried Zaha this summer after sanctioning Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s £50m move to Manchester United.

Zaha is desperate to join a club competiting in Europe but fears being priced out of a move away from Selhurst Park with Roy Hodgson’s side holding out for £80m.

Part of the reason Palace are holding out for so much money for Zaha is that former club Manchester United are entitled to 25% of the fee due to a sell-on fee.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery is desperate to sign Zaha but needs Palace to reduce their asking price to have any chance of landing the Ivory Coast international.

Palace are already on the look out for potential Zaha replacements and have earmarked Saint-Maximin as a top target.

The 22-year-old has spent the last two years at Nice and is similar to Zaha in the respect he can play either on the wing or up front.

Palace are not the only Premier League side interested in Saint-Maximin, with Newcastle and Watford also keen.

Saint-Maximin played a direct hand in nine goals in 34 league appearances for Nice last season and only Sofiane Boufal (144) completed more dribbles than the France Under-21 international (143) in Europe’s top five leagues.
