Barcelona prepared to take monster financial hit to offload Coutinho

Barcelona have accepted they will have to take a huge financial hit in order to offload Philippe Coutinho permanently, reports the London Evening Standard.

The Spanish giants shelled out £142M to sign Coutinho from Liverpool in January 2018 and the Brazilian will go down as one of the club's most costly decisions.

Coutinho has failed to maky any sort of positive impact at Barcelona since joining the club and was even farmed out on loan to Bayern Munich for the 2019/20 campaign.

Barcelona are determined to sell Coutinho permanently this summer in order to bankroll moves for the likes of Lautaro Martinz and Neymar.

As Liverpool have already ruled out re-signing Coutinho, coupled with the fact Bayern will not make his loan stint permanent, the midfielder's future beyond this season is up in the area.

Barcelona know they will fail to recoup their full investment for Coutinho and are willing to listen to offers in the region of €80M (£70.5M) to flush out any interest.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers is reportedly keen on reuniting with Coutinho having signed the Brazilian for Liverpool back in 2013.

However, the Foxes will not be able to facilitate Coutinho's arrival on a permanent basis at that price, while Barcelona will oppose another loan deal at all costs.

Despite featuring in just 61.6 per cent of the available minutes in the Bundesliga this season, Coutinho has still managed eight goals and six assists in his debut campaign for Bayern.
