Young Tottenham defender move to Championship side

Sheffield United have confirmed the signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers from Tottenham on a season-long loan.

The teenage defender, who has penned a new deal with the Premier League side until 2020, is eligible to make his debut for the Blades in the weekend meeting with Derby County.

“Chris Wilder has bolstered his defensive options with the signing of a young Premier League defender,” a statement read on the club’s official website.

“Tottenham Hotspur's Cameron Carter-Vickers arrives at Bramall Lane on a season-long loan and is eligible to make his debut against Derby County at the weekend.

“The arrival of the 19-year-old, who has represented the USA at three different youth levels, gives Wilder additional resources at the back following the news that Richard Stearman will be out for around six to eight weeks.

“Last season, Carter-Vickers made his Spurs debut in the third round of the League Cup against Gillingham at White Hart Lane.”

On the signing of Carter-Vickers, Wilder said: "Cameron is young, athletic and highly-rated by Tottenham and we're delighted we've been trusted to continue his development.

"He is a central defender with a good attitude and adds competition for places in that area. I like the way Tottenham play and it's clear that Cameron has the ability to be a very good player."
