Barcelona looking to trump rivals in Nico Williams pursuit

Barcelona have made their proposal to winger Nico Williams as they look to beat a host of Premier League sides to the Spaniard's services, reports Fabrizio Romano.

Williams was a wanted man prior to Euro 2024 and his performances in Spain's success in Germany has seen his stock soar.

A host of Premier League sides have been linked with a move for Williams in recent months, including Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham.

Barcelona, though, are hoping to beat the quartet, plus others, to the 22-year-old, which would see Spain's starting wing duo feature for the Blaugrana.

The Spanish giants are looking to wrestle the La Liga crown back from rivals Real Madrid, who finished 10 points clear at the top of the table last season.

Williams finished the 2023/24 La Liga season with 11 assists to his name, while he also completed 86 dribbles, both ranking second as Athletic Club ended the campaign in fifth. The Basque giants also won the Copa Del Rey for the first time in 40 years.
