England international eyeing move abroad to boost Euro 2020 hopes

Stoke goalkeeper Jack Butland hopes to secure a move abroad this month in order to boost his hopes of making England’s squad for the 2020 European Championships, claims The Daily Mail.

Butland was heavily linked with a move to Premier League duo Aston Villa and Bournemouth earlier this summer but both teams were priced out of a deal due to Stoke’s valuation.

The Potters were holding out for in the region of £30m for the 26-year-old before Villa turned to Tom Heaton and Bournemouth decided to promote from within.

Butland has started Stoke’s first two league games of the season but hopes to use the European transfer windows to secure a move away from the bet365 Stadium.

Gareth Southgate has already made it clear players in the Championship will struggle to break into the England set-up and it was a reason why Jack Grealish failed to get international recognition last season.

Only Keiren Westwood (4.86) has a lower WhoScored rating than Butland (5.05) in the Championship this season.
