Paris Saint-Germain consider surprise move for Manchester City flop

Paris Saint-Germain are weighing up a surprise move for Manchester City flop Eliaquim Mangala, reports ESPN.

The former France international has been deemed surplus to requirements by City manager Pep Guardiola and is free to leave this summer after being left out of the team’s pre-season tour to America.

Mangala spent last season on loan with Valencia but the Spanish side opted against making the deal permanent, which has left his future up in the air.

There were suggestions Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez wanted to bring the powerful centre-back to the newly promoted club, but it has now emerged that French giants PSG are interested in striking a potential deal.

Unai Emery’s side are in the market for fourth centre-back for next season and were expected to sign former Real Madrid defender Pepe only to miss out on his signature to Turkish champions Besiktas.

A major stumbling block may be that City are only interested in letting Mangala on a permanent deal and would ideally look to recoup as much of the £32m they spent on the 26-year-old as possible.

Mangala completed more interceptions than any other Valencia player in La Liga last season (67).
