Buffon due for Paris Saint-Germain medical

Former Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon is due to undergo his Paris Saint-Germain medical on Friday, reports ESPN.

Buffon announced at the end of last season he would leave Juventus but insisted he had no intentions of retiring.

The 40-year-old was heavily linked with a surprise move to PSG shortly afterwards and the Ligue 1 giants have quickly ironed out a deal.

PSG’s pursuit of Buffon was delayed by UEFA’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) ruling, but now Thomas Tuchel’s side are expected to wrap up a deal for the iconic goalkeeper.

Buffon is due in Paris on Friday to complete his medical before putting pen to paper on a two-year deal with the French giants.

His arrival will almost certainly mean at least one of Alphonse Areola or Kevin Trapp will move on this summer and the former has already been linked with Napoli.

Buffon has kept more clean sheets than any other Serie A goalkeeper in the last four campaigns (62) and he will bring to PSG a winning mentality that the club have lacked in Europe.
