West Ham battling for Arnautovic’s future after £35m bid

West Ham are determined to hold on to star forward Marko Arnautovic this month following a shock £35m bid from an unnamed Chinese side, claims BBC Sport.

Arnautovic has spent the last two years at West Ham after the Hammers shelled out a club-record £20m fee to sign the Austria international.

The 29-year-old was subject to interest from Manchester United during Jose Mourinho’s time at the club but West Ham have no interest in selling their star striker.

Teams from China have hoovered up talent from European sides in recent years and been willing to outlay astonishing wages in order to convince players to move to the Far East.

Shanghai SIPG signed Oscar from Chelsea in a £52m deal at the end of 2016 and now an unnamed side want to prise Arnautovic away from the Premier League.

West Ham are unlikely to ever receive an offer that large for a player who will turn 30 before the end of the season, while Arnautovic would have the chance to make career-best earnings in China.

Since making his West Ham debut, Arnautovic has scored 18 goals in 46 Premier League appearances, at least six more than any other team-mate.
