Aston Villa have announced they have sacked manager Roberto Di Matteo after 12 matches in charge of the Championship outfit.
Di Matteo, 46, was appointed Villa manager during the summer after a four-month search.
New owner Tony Xia backed the former Chelsea manager heavily but the club have now begun the search for his successor after their disastrous start to the season.

Di Matteo leaves Villa in 19th position having only won one of their opening 11 league matches, as well managing their League Cup exit in the first round to League Two outfit Luton.
