Real Madrid make Liverpool star their number one transfer target

LaLiga giants Real Madrid have made Liverpool star Sadio Mane their number one summer transfer target, reports The Mirror on Sunday.

Mane has been exceptional for the Reds this season with his 14 goals helping Liverpool to top spot in England's top tier.

The Senegal star's excellent form has seen him return a WhoScored rating of 7.50, that better than any other Liverpool player, while no player has won more WhoScored man of the match awards than Mane (7) in the Premier League this season.

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane is supposedly a huge admirer of Mane with the Frenchman eager to add the 27-year-old to the Real Madrid ranks.

The Real Madrid attacks needs fresh blood in the summer with Karim Benzema the wrong side of 30, Eden Hazard struggling with injuries and Gareth Bale still continuously linked with a move away from the Bernabeu.

It is believed that Mane's representatives have been made aware of interest from Real Madrid, though any possible deal has been put on hold for the time being.

Liverpool, of course, would be wholly against selling one of their prized assets, yet the Reds must be wary of interest from one of football's most recognisible clubs.

The Merseysiders will be confident of commanding a top fee for Mane, should they be open to the possibility of selling the forward, with the Senegalese ace penning a five-year deal at Anfield back in 2018.
