Manchester United sign goalkeeper with worst save success record in England

Manchester United have announced the arrival of Southend goalkeeper Nathan Bishop on a two-and-a-half-year deal running until the summer of 2022.

Bishop is a product of Southend's youth academy and made his England Under-20 international last year.

The 20-year-old has made 12 league appearances for the League One strugglers this season and United have snapped him up for an undisclosed fee.

Bishop's arrival raises eyebrows about the future of Dean Henderson, who is currently on loan at Sheffield United.

The 22-year-old will only return to Old Trafford if he is guaranteed the No.1 spot from David De Gea.

United are due to make a decision on that in April but Bishop's arrival suggests they have another up-and-coming goalkeeper if Henderson is sold.

That said, Bishop is the lowest WhoScored rated goalkeeper (5+ appearances) in League One this season (5.95) and has the worst save success rate in England's top-four tiers (50.7%).
