Portuguese giants Sporting are interested in re-signing Leicester frontman Islam Slimani on a season-long loan deal, claims Sky Sports.
Leicester shelled out a club-record £29m to sign Slimani from Sporting in 2016 but the Algeria international has failed to live up to the billing.
Slimani spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle and is free to leave the King Power Stadium this summer.
The Magpies have already turned down the chance to bring Slimani back to the north west but Sporting are willing to hand the 30-year-old a route out.
Leicester would prefer a permanent deal and have placed an £18m valuation on his head, but Sporting have sounded out a possible loan move.
Slimani scored 27 goals in 33 league appearances during his final season at Sporting that led to a big money move to Leicester.
The Algerian striker, however, has only scored eight league goals in 39 appearances since moving to England and seemingly has no future at Leicester.
