Chelsea dealt a blow in quest to sign new goalkeeper

Chelsea are set to be handed a blow in their push to land a new goalkeeper with Marc-Andre ter Stegen in line to pen a new five-year deal with Barcelona, reports The Sun.

The German goalkeeper has become one of the best in the business after establishing himself as first choice for the Blaugrana.

And his performances haven't gone unnoticed with the Blues pondering a big money move for Ter Stegen as they seek to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Football's most expensive goalkeeper has failed to live up to his hefty price tag on the back of his record breaking move to Stamford Bridge from Athletic Club in 2018.

28-year-old Ter Stegen has just two years left to run on his current deal at Camp Nou and it had heightened the possibility that he could be available this summer.

However, he is now expected to sign a new long-term deal with the LaLiga champions next month to end any speculation of a possible exit.

Ter Stegen has kept eight clean sheets from 26 league appearances this season as Barcelona seek to defend their LaLiga crown.
