Arsenal midfielder ruled out for three weeks

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed Francis Coquelin’s injury is not as bad as first feared and he will be sidelined for three weeks.

Coquelin, 25, limped off during the first half of Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday after injuring his knee blocking a shot from N’Golo Kante.

The French midfielder left the Emirates on crunches after suffering an injury to the same area of the knee that kept him sidelined for two months last season but Wenger has now confirmed he will only miss three weeks.

“Coquelin is out for the game tomorrow but it should be a short term injury” Metro quote Wenger as saying in the build up to their Champions League clash with Basel on Wednesday. “It could be three weeks out.”

Only Nacho Monreal (6.5) averages more tackles and interceptions combined per game in the Premier League for Arsenal than Coquelin (6.2) this season.
