Impending Real Betis signing hands Tottenham Lo Celso boost

Real Betis’ impending capture of Nabil Fekir from Lyon could have a positive effect on Tottenham’s pursuit of Giovani Lo Celso, reports Football.London.

Spurs remain in the race to sign the Argentine and is viewed as a possible replacement for Christian Eriksen, who despite links with a move to Real Madrid, could stay in London beyond the deadline.

Real Betis made Lo Celso’s move permanent in April after a successful loan stint and the LaLiga side stand to make a huge profit should the sell this summer.

The Seville outfit are demanding interested parties trigger Lo Celso’s £88m release clause, though Spurs will look to negotiate that figure down before next month’s deadline.

And it could be that Real Betis’ pursuit of Fekir eases their stance on the 23-year-old.

The Spanish side have emerged as surprise favourites to sign the France international, who was linked with a move to Liverpool and Chelsea last summer.

Lyon are resigned to losing Fekir this month and personal terms are believed to have been agreed between the France international and Real Betis.

However, the two teams are yet to agree a fee for Fekir with the deal hinging on Spurs’ push for Lo Celso.
