Leicester City have announced they have completed a deal to sign Udinese centre-back Molla Wague on loan until the end of the season.
Wague, 25, arrived at Leicester’s training ground on deadline day to complete his medical after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty due to Mali’s elimination from the tournament at the group stages.
Leicester have been desperate to sign a new centre-back this month following the dismal form shown by Robert Huth and Wes Morgan in particular this season.
The reigning Premier League champions failed with bids for Sassuolo defender Francesco Acerbi and Lazio ace Wesley Hoedt this month before turning their attentions to out-of-favour Udinese defender Wague.
The Udinese No.2 can play at the heart of the defence and also at right-back, which is a role that may be required from him following Luis Hernandez’s sale back to Spain earlier this month.
Wague has only made six appearances in Serie A this season, although he may feel he should have been called upon more frequently having averaged the second most amount of tackles per league game at the club (3.2).
