Chelsea still want to offload Danny Drinkwater and hope to attract interest from foreign sides before transfer windows across the continent shut at the end of this month, claims The Daily Mail.
The Premier League giants signed Drinkwater from Leicester in a £35m deal 12 months ago but the former Manchester United academy graduate has failed to make any impact at the club in that time.
Drinkwater was linked with a move to West Ham before the transfer window for English clubs closed last week but nothing materialised and the 28-year-old looked set to stay until January at the very earliest.
However, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri still wants to trim down his first-team squad and has given the greenlight for the club to sound out potential suitors from abroad.
Italian clubs have until Friday to sign new players, while the deadline for German, Spanish and French teams isn’t until the end of August.
Drinkwater only managed five league starts for Chelsea last season and a further seven appearances from the bench. He netted one goal in that time.
