Napoli back on the market for PSV star Lozano

Napoli have rekindled their interest in PSV Eindhoven star Hirving Lozano after missing out on several top transfer targets, claims Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Serie A giants were linked with a move for Lozano right at the start of the transfer window but opted to focus on signing other targets.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side have since seen moves for James Rodriguez and Nicolas Pepe fall through and are now looking at Lozano once again.

Napoli have been given a boost in their pursuit of Lozano after PSV were knocked out of the Champions League by FC Basel on Tuesday night.

Lozano, who is valued at around €40m (£36.7m), has spent the last two years at PSV and has quickly asserted himself as one of the best players in the Eredivisie.

Despite the fact PSV are more inclined to sell now they cannot offer Champions League football, a deal will not be straightforward for Napoli due to Mino Raiola’s involvement.

Napoli endured difficulties with Raiola when they signed Kostas Manolas from Roma earlier in the summer and can expect similar issues in talks to prise Lozano away from the Dutch giants.

Lozano has played a direct hand in 50 goals in 59 league appearances since joining PSV from Mexican side Pachuca in 2017 (34 goals, 16 assists).

In fact, only three players have scored or assisted more goals than Lozano in the Eredivisie in that time.
