Sheffield United re-sign Aaron Ramsdale from Bournemouth

Sheffield United have confirmed the return of Aaron Ramsdale from Bournemouth on a four-year deal until the summer of 2024.

Chris Wilder's side have fended off late competition from the likes of Aston Villa after agreeing an £18.5m fee with Bournemouth.

Ramsdale left Sheffield United to join Bournemouth three years ago but has now returned to Bramall Lane following the Cherries' relegation to the Championsip.

"I'm delighted, it wasn't an easy decision to leave Bournemouth, but when a club comes in for you, shows that faith it has and is willing to pay this sort of money then obviously I've got to do a lot to repay it, but my smile has been ear-to-ear since I walked back through the door," Ramsdale told the club's official website.

Sheffield United's decision to re-sign Ramsdale signals the end of Dean Henderson's two-year stint at the club.

Henderson has returned to parent club Manchester United and is in advanced talks about a new contract with a view to challenging David de Gea for the No.1 spot at Old Trafford.

Only two goalkeepers made more saves than Ramsdale in the Premier League last season (125).
